Liquorice extract
The beneficial properties of licorice (Glycyrrhiza Glabra) have been known since ancient times. This spontaneous plant is present throughout the Mediterranean basin and above all in Calabria. Liquorice has recently become one of the most used ingredients in Natural Cosmetics , thanks to its many beneficial effects on the skin it gives the cosmetic unique functional characteristics.
Beneficial properties of licorice
The licorice extract, dark in color and with an intense and enveloping aroma, is a powerful cosmetic ingredient as it is:
- soothing , due to its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps to lighten the areas of the skin where there is hyperpigmentation, limiting the production of melanin, and is also very effective in the treatment of skin spots due to exposure to sunlight or age;
- antibacterial , particularly indicated in case of dry, dehydrated and damaged skin ;
- healing , recommended for the treatment of acne and pimples and also for more serious problems such as psoriasis , eczema and dermatitis;
- anti-inflammatory , calms the redness and itching of small irritated blood vessels.
